First, Last, Before, After: The Bible Means What It Says

Four little words that destroy the pre-tribulation rapture theory and prove the Seventh Trumpet Rapture: first, last, before and after

In the bizarre world of John Nelson Darby’s pre-Tribulation eschatology, first does not mean first, last does not mean last, before does not mean before, and after does not mean after.

Scriptures prophesying the Seventh Trumpet Rapture

1. Revelation 20 states that the FIRST Resurrection will happen when those who refused to worship the beast come to life.

“And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony of Jesus and because of the word of God, and those who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received the mark on their forehead and on their hand; and they came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years....The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were completed. This is the FIRST resurrection.” Revelation 20:4-5.

I Thessalonians 4 states that the dead in Christ will rise FIRST before the living are caught up to meet the Lord in the air.

“For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise FIRST. Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord.” I Thessalonians 4:16-17.

Both of these resurrections have to be one and the same since there obviously can only be one first Resurrection. So the Rapture cannot possibly happen before the antichrist takes over and the mark of the beast is instituted, which will occur during the Tribulation period.

2. The Apostle Paul stated that the apostasy and the antichrist will be revealed FIRST before Jesus comes to gather the Church.

“The coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, our gathering together with Him and the Day of the Lord will not come unless the apostasy comes FIRST, the man of iniquity is revealed and sits in the temple as god.” I Thessalonians 2:1-4.

This agrees perfectly with Matthew 24 which states that the abomination of desolation will come FIRST before the Lord comes on the clouds to gather His elect AFTER the Tribulation.

"Therefore when you see the abomination of desolation which was spoken of through Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place... But immediately AFTER the tribulation of those days... they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky... And they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of the sky to the other.” Matthew 24:15-37.

3. The Apostle Paul said all believers we will be changed when the LAST trumpet sounds at Christ's coming.

“Behold, I tell you a mystery; we will not all sleep, but we will all be changed,in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the LAST trumpet; for the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.” I Corinthians 15:51-52.

The LAST trumpet in the Bible is the SEVENTH Trumpet at the end of the Tribulation when Jesus comes on the clouds to set up His kingdom.

“Then the SEVENTH angel sounded; and there were loud voices in heaven, saying, ‘The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ; and He will reign forever and ever.’” Revelation 11:15.

Paul could not have honestly said the rapture will happen at the LAST trumpet with seven more trumpets to sound.

4. The Prophet Joel said the sun will be darkened and the moon will turn to blood BEFORE the Day of the Lord.

“The sun will be turned into darkness And the moon into blood BEFORE the great and awesome day of the Lord comes.” Joel 2:31.

The Sixth Seal of Revelation describes these exact events not occurring until the Tribulation is almost over. So the Day of the Lord certainly cannot start at the beginning of the Tribulation as a pre-Tribulation rapture requires.

“I looked when He broke the sixth seal, and there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth made of hair, and the whole moon became like blood; and the stars of the sky fell to the earth.” Revelation 6:12-13.

5. Jesus told His disciples to look up AFTER they see the events of the Tribulation begin to take place because their redemption (the Rapture) is near.

"But when these things begin to take place, straighten up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near." Luke 21:28.

6. The Mystery of God, which is Christ and the Church (Colossians 1:26-27), is not finished until AFTER the SEVENTH TRUMPET (no longer a mystery because every eye will see Him and the rapture too).

“There will be delay no longer, but in the days of the voice of the SEVENTH angel, when he is about to sound, then the mystery of God is finished, as He preached to His servants the prophets.” Revelation 10:6-7.

If the rapture of the Church happened before the Tribulation, the Mystery of God would be finished then, not after the Seventh Trumpet sounds.

7. Rahab, a type of the Church, was not taken out until AFTER the Seventh Trumpet sounded on the seventh day of the battle of Jericho, just like the Church will not be taken out until AFTER the Seventh Trumpet sounds at the end of the Tribulation.

“At the SEVENTH time, when the priests blew the trumpets, Joshua said to the people, ‘Shout! For the LORD has given you the city...’ When the people heard the sound of the trumpet, the people shouted with a great shout and the wall fell down flat... Joshua said to the two men who had spied out the land, ‘Go into the harlot's house and bring the woman and all she has out of there, as you have sworn to her.’” Joshua 6:16,20,22.

To truly understand Biblical prophecy, we have to believe the Bible means what it says instead of filtering it through a nineteenth century heretic and cult founder's theology.
